Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were contacted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then located many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.

A senior representative said the incident left him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
