19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of that year.
The win also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
His counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.
He rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
